Both the Cary Single and the Cary Double share the same seam-to-seam footprint, so on the outside they look and carry very similarly. The real difference isn't the number of organizer pockets — it's overall capacity and flexibility.
The quick answer
If you're deciding between the two, we almost always recommend sizing up to the Double. It's only marginally heavier, the profile is about the same, and you'll have the extra room on the days you need it — while it compresses back down to a slim shape when you don't.
Capacity & construction
- Cary Single — 16.0" (W) x 12.0" (H) x 3.9" (D), 2.75 lbs empty. One main compartment.
- Cary Double — 16.0" (W) x 12.0" (H) x 4.1" (D), 3.55 lbs empty. Adds a second full compartment built on a concertina (accordion) construction, which lets the bag expand when you've packed more and settle back to a slim profile when you haven't.
So the Double gives you a meaningful amount of additional, adaptable space rather than simply more pockets — while keeping essentially the same silhouette as the Single.
